Modulation Range Automation
« on: April 18, 2023, 04:58:20 pm »
New to Pigments, the forums and looking for some help.

I'm looking to see if it's possible to automate modulation ranges when applying them to parameters.

For example gradually increase the depth to which the LFO affects the filter cutoff over a phrase of a track.

Can't seem to work out out how to assign automation to modulation range,  find directions in the manual or see anything on the forum.  Is this simply not possible?

Hello,

LFO's allready have a FADE option in the parameter next to the Retrig Source. That's all you need for the example you mention.

Functions have SCALE parameter that might be useful.

And you have the modulator SIDECHAIN feature. Modulators can this way modulate other modulators output level. So this way is also a possibility to solve your example, if you in example use a ONE shot function with a ramp up waveform as sidechain for the LFO modulation you wan't to fade in.
Sidechaining modulators is what i understand you in generel are asking about, when you talk about modulating depth of a modulation.

In some cases there might be other options.

Hope this helps. But feel free to ask further in the forum.

Thank you, that's really helpful and provides some avenues for exploration.  Don't get a huge amount of time for music due to the day job but will have a look at these options as soon as the chance arises and let you know if they did the trick.
