XLR or Line Ins for TwoNotes Captor and Reload
« on: January 27, 2022, 09:26:13 pm »
I just acquired an AudioFuse 8pre and set it up using XLR inputs for guitar amplifiers coming out of TwoNotes Captor and Reload devices. I have to have the Pad engaged and the level down fairly low.

Should I be using TRS jacks instead in order to access the higher gain handling in the Line Ins?   What would be the standard practice here?   Are there differences in tone character between the XLR mic pres and the Line Ins?   A good technical explanation would be much appreciated.

According the Arturia website "DiscretePRO® lets you switch between two separate gain structures—one designed specifically for standard line levels and one optimized for microphones."

I don't see any way to switch this in AFCC.  Do you really have to solder a TRS jack onto the cable in order to make the switch?
