SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM:

i spoke to a friend who had the very same issue.

Over time a lot of dust and
especially skin-particles from your fingers will fall into the spaces between Wheel and audiofuse case.

if you remove the wheelknob you will see there is no real shielding at all (i only can speak about the AF Rev.1, very poor hardware design)
i assume thats the reason why the sensors get irritated and it results in those volume spikes while moving the wheel

what you wanna do:  Remove the Wheel, clean the inner wheel with a Cotton swab and alot of Isopropanol 99%

WARNING:  Donīt use any other Cleaner, no contact-cleaner, no fancy electronic cleaning sprays or other stuff.
Donīt use isopropanol 60% oder lower.  Most of the cleaners have other liquids and / or worse parts of water in it, that will
destroy the electronics over time with cororsion.

Only use the the real deal with 99% - u can use a lot, it will not harm your components.

We testet it on both AFs and they are running like new, without any problems...

Excellent! Thanks a lot, it worked for me just fine!!! You saved Christmas (and probably my hearing as well :D )

I have similar prolem with the main volume knob on my Audiofuse Rev2 which i recieved only yesterday ,so its a totaly new unit . Sometimes when i move the main volume knob and im moving it slow, the volume jumps  + 4-9dB  up. But normal when i'm moving it slow it goes only 0,5dB up (or down).  I also checked it in the audiofuse control center to see the volume dB and as i said when im moving it slow it usually goes 0,5dB up (or down) but sometimes it jumps 4-9 dB up (and im not moving it fast) . That is really annoying and my ears are somethimes blowen away. And also ,sometimes when I turn the volume up but the volume goes down  and thats also very annoying . I emailed the support about this problem but so far i didnt recieve an answer. I dont think its a software/driver issue. I will probably return it , but i have to say that i really like it , it looks awesome and the unit has everything i need ,but the volume issue is very annoying and people use this main volume knob most often :(  ........ and thats a no go for me

I've been in touch with Arturia support after having the same issue on my Rev 1. I was advised to do a factory reset and/or emergency firmware boot. I did both, and the issue was resolved.

this will likely only work for a short period of time.   the failure will come back after some days.    ;-(

sadly i have to say about my own solution - it will also not work in the long term.
i removed the volume button and cleaned the inside 2x now.. it will only last for a few days/weeks after those terrible volume spikes return.  ;-(

also the proposal of a factory reset does not work for me.

iīm also surprised people with the brand new Rev2 model report the same issue.   so its unlikely that the problem appears only on older used models.

i hope Arturia will give some official feedback soon.

This fail is very dangerous and can destroy 3rd party Hardware.

i had few times the volume-spikes where that extreme that my studio monitors screamed very loud clipping the speakers.

You need to raise a ticket through your account. This is a users' forum, Arturia rarely gives feedback to individual issues here.

This is sad. The knob is the most important thing for me.

Hi Axlg, did you create a support request? They're not going to work on it unless people report the issue through their official support channel.

Yes I raised the ticket. As they told me, I did the factory reset and emergency firmware boot. Unfortunately the issue is still there.

Anyone solved the volume issue? any news?

iīm sorry that i have to get a little harsh on this, but...

Its very frustrating, that the support continues to give false advice to their costumers.
knowing its BS.

it has been reported long time ago, that the factory-emergency boot
has nothing to do with the problem and will not help.

Its hardware related and is caused by the contacts/volume wheel.
i have posted a temporary (!) fix here in this thread, but the problem will come back after some time.

i stopped wasting time on this.   i like the compact-concept of the audiofuse, but its not "everyday-use-proof",
to much cheap and shaky.
