SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM:
i spoke to a friend who had the very same issue.
Over time a lot of dust and
especially skin-particles from your fingers will fall into the spaces between Wheel and audiofuse case.
if you remove the wheelknob you will see there is no real shielding at all (i only can speak about the AF Rev.1, very poor hardware design)
i assume thats the reason why the sensors get irritated and it results in those volume spikes while moving the wheel
what you wanna do: Remove the Wheel, clean the inner wheel with a Cotton swab and alot of Isopropanol 99%
WARNING: Donīt use any other Cleaner, no contact-cleaner, no fancy electronic cleaning sprays or other stuff.
Donīt use isopropanol 60% oder lower. Most of the cleaners have other liquids and / or worse parts of water in it, that will
destroy the electronics over time with cororsion.
Only use the the real deal with 99% - u can use a lot, it will not harm your components.
We testet it on both AFs and they are running like new, without any problems...
Excellent! Thanks a lot, it worked for me just fine!!! You saved Christmas (and probably my hearing as well
)
sadly i have to say about my own solution - it will also not work in the long term.
i removed the volume button and cleaned the inside 2x now.. it will only last for a few days/weeks after those terrible volume spikes return. ;-(
also the proposal of a factory reset does not work for me.
iīm also surprised people with the brand new Rev2 model report the same issue. so its unlikely that the problem appears only on older used models.
i hope Arturia will give some official feedback soon.
This fail is very dangerous and can destroy 3rd party Hardware. i had few times the volume-spikes where that extreme that my studio monitors screamed very loud clipping the speakers.
