MIDI THRU
« on: May 16, 2020, 01:45:42 pm »
Hello

I`m trying to map 3 volcas + td3 using a midi thru (https://www.thomann.de/gr/miditech_midi_thru_filter.htm)

Tried changing the midi output channel on the keystep Pro for each track however it seems like all of them are "available" only on Midi Channel 1

Any ideas?

Hello.

1/ Please make sure your firmware is up to date

2/ Make sure you have correctly set your Output MIDI Channels and not the Input MIDI channels

Let me know if it helps.

Hello !

I just noticed that your MIDI interface is not powered, I think that is the reason it's not working.

Best regards

@Edouard
According to the Thomann info, that device is powered over midi.
I hope you guys didn’t forget to provide +3.3 volt (or 5 volt) on pin 4 of the midi out connector?

Although it has been 5 volt for decades, it changed to 3.3 volt in 2014.
I noticed some major brand has been ignoring these specification and does not provide any power at the midi out.

I know that it is easy to forget to scroll down to "output channel" in the utility menu and assign all input channels and then pull your hair out trying to work out what is going wrong.

Also, considering that the thru box is running on MIDI power, if you are powering your KSP with a USB cable, maybe try the PSU to see if that makes a difference.

Yes, but the device in question is now discontinued for over a year, so will have been manufactured to run on the old spec.  If the KSP adheres to the new spec, that will not be enough.
Currently running https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/1311723 / www.modulargrid.net, sequencing with KSP and recording with a Zoom (no DAW involved, for better or worse ;) )

Hey,

The midithrough is powered and is sending signal to all 3 only through channel 1(keystep channel 1)
On keystep I have assigned midi out track 1 to midi 1, track 2 to midi 2 etc...

From what i read so far it might have to do with some shift functions?
Shift + octave up + key... maybe i was not able to identify which button is which so far...

If that is the case though there must be a way to use all 4 tracks...

so yeah prob nube thing here haha
