Limited window size?
« on: January 19, 2020, 06:15:02 pm »
So my plan to have an extra wide monitor set up in portrait mode to show all of the modular seems to be thwarted by unconventional programming to limit the size of the window containing the modular. Of course I can reduce the modular to 50% and THEN it fits into its "window" stretched to it's maximum size.

If I want to see all of the modular, no matter what monitor I have, I can only do that at 50% view because the window containing the modular has a maximum size? That seem unnecessarily limiting, forcing us to scroll up/down always unless we work at the microscopic 50% resolution. The modular programming is so brilliant (truly). Why put that into a non-conventional window that artificially limits the ease of use. Like putting a Ferrari engine into the car frame of a Ford Escort or something. Maybe not that bad but still.

Am I missing something?

Hi and welcome to Arturia forums.

You can't get a full view over all the modules no matter what window size you can use. You will onle be able to see what you see smaller or bigger. The size of this view also depend on your screen resolution. The purpose with the resize function is to make it fit to screen resolution, and to make things smaller or bigger, but not to see more or less modules.
You need to scroll to see all modules as it is.

I assume that when you say "50%", then you don't mean the size of the window, but how many modules you can see at a time.
If not, then you must have a very low resolution screen.

I hope i have understood you correct.

I too don't see the point of forcing a fixed window size for those of us that use monitors in portrait orientation.

I never had any problems with Modular V2 which had a window that could be resized vertically.

The Modular V could be resized vertically via a pull-down handle on the lower right of the window up to and including version 3.4.0.x.  For the upgrade to 3.7.0.x, they removed the handle when they put in the predefined macros on the lower right.  To me (as a software engineer of over 40 years), this looks like a bug, or a design flaw when they added the macros.  (One will note that the windows will resize Horizontally, when you activate the macro setup via the gear icon on the upper right in 3.7.0, so It is quite possible to resize the windows.

Not being able to resize the Modular window vertically severely limits the usability of the program.  I have already set up a portrait-oriented monitor specifically to use the Modular , and it worked fine...up until 3.7.0  From my point of view, I'd much rather have the resize option than the macros.
