Functionality questions
« on: January 18, 2020, 03:39:24 am »
Looking into getting a Beatstep Pro (or Keystep Pro) but I've got some concerns on how they'll fit into my work flow. I don't have any CV synths.

Ideally, I want to be able to play/sequence my OP-1 and multiple virtual synths from the Beatstep Pro. I'm thinking connect the OP-1 to my Macbook via USB, loading up a couple synth VSTs, all on separate MIDI channels matching the BeatStep Pro sequencer MIDI channels.

I then want to control the BeatStep Pro from a MIDI keyboard, probably a Kordbot so MIDI out on the Kordbot to MIDI in on the Beatstep Pro.

Will this work the way I'm thinking? If so I'll have to consider preordering the Keystep Pro vs getting the BeatStep Pro now + having money for a small lil CV/MIDI synth (let me know if one of these would be perfect for this set up, I make hip-hop & get overwhelmed by too much synthesis)

Bump...I bought a beatstep pro and I can’t for the life of me seem to be able to control 1 VST synth with sequencer 1, another VST synth in sequencer 2, and a third VST/my OP-1 in the drum sequencer without having to jump to the DAW and select the track for the Beatstep to control. I’m using Logic and sending the tracks to MIDI channels 1,2 and 10.

Any assistance would be appreciated. Excuse my ignorance.

No issues when using Ableton, but I've only got the Lite version and I've been using Logic for years.
