Title: Daniel Miller Kick Drum
Post by: bobcat1983775101 on October 09, 2019, 01:15:19 am
Hi guys,

Im new to the forum but have enjoyed reading the posts, particularly the ones relating to the ARP2600 which I am trying my best to master at the moment. I was wondering, has anyone any idea how Daniel Miller made the kick drum he used on the early Depeche Mode records? It was made using an Arp2600 but despite much fiddling with knobs and sliders I am nowhere near it. Anyone got any ideas?

Hi and welcome to Arturia forums.

There are 2 Depeche ARP 2600 sound packs in the store. "Depeche Speak Tribute" and "Depeche Wave Tribute." The later is also Yazoo.
Perhaps they can help. I can't say.
Listen and read here: https://www.arturia.com/community/presets

Also there are some percussion/ drum sounds in the factory presets, that can help.

Thanks LBH for the welcome and the info.

I already have the Speak tribute (which isn't that good tbh) but I haven't heard the 'wave' so I will give that a listen.

To be fair to the programmer of the sound bank I have, he/she has done a better job than I could have done and whilst I think the 2600V is a great synth in its own right, I think we will have to wait on Behringer's 2600 to be released before we can get our hands on something that truly emulates the original.
