Title: Keystep not syncing to Dreadbox Erebus

I'm currently having issues connecting my Arturia Keystep to my Dreadbox NYX. I have midi out going from the keystep to the Nyx midi in then I have 1/4 out from the NYX going to the interface then into Reaper. What am I doing wrong here? I've looked at a few diagrams and I'm just not quite sure what's going on.

I'm getting an oscillating sound from the NYX through reaper but when I press the keys nothing happens. At one time when I pressed the keys all it did was mute the oscillating then it would start back up again.
