Title: Copying/pasting sequences in Keystep or Midi Control Center?
Post by: wellsoliver on April 18, 2019, 02:39:51 am
Is this possible? It seems not but I think it'd be an easy feature in the control center, though it seem unlikely that it's there.

I don't think it is possible atm.

It would be great to do that ESPECIALLY on the fly while playing live to develop patterns further and further but be able to return to variations. As far as I know, this cannot even be done in the editor.

Also I noticed a looot of bugs with the notes in the editor, which look different, than they actually trigger. Sometimes they look the same, but trigger in a different manner. Sometimes they don't at all... Very odd.

Good news, I found a way to copy a whole sequence to another slot:

You can grab the TAB of a sequence # an drag&drop it on an other one. Now you made a copy :)

See the picture attached.

I like that... I already gave up, but now I can copy a base loop and add different variations. Nice.

Hi !

but, how can we do that from one project to another, say I want to move somes sequences from project 16 to 7 ?

I tried the drag and drop thing on midi center, can't find a way to do it across project =[

Thank you for your time !

Say you want to copy Seq 1 in Project 16 to Seq 2 in Project 7, open Project 7 in the editor, then in the Project browser drag Seq 1 from Project 16 to the Seq 2 tab in the Seq editor and save.  This does a straight up copy and replace.

oh god, it works !

this is so unintuitive, i was trying the drag and drop but into the brownser..

Anyway, thank you !

You are welcome.

Not the most obvious way to do things, I agree. A function for copy and pasting sequences from pattern to pattern on the KeyStep similar to the BSP is sorely missed. I do sometimes wish using the editor/MCC was a little simpler, but then think "what am I doing not actually playing music?" ;) I like the immediacy of using my Arturia sequencers and have never been too taken by point and click music making. It would be brilliant if Arturia were to make a full-blown sequencing workstation with song capabilities, though I also love the constant nudge I get from them to do things in real-time and not start production before I have perfected the tune!

Yeah I feel you, I use that midi center only for backing up, and now finally be able to move songz (live seq1&2 +drum seq) from one project to another for a better flow during the live set.
Because one thing very anoying with this machine is when you change project, the tempo goes back to 120, and so all your machine sync with, meaning a sampler for example (that i use a lot).

So you cannot really preparing something while a sample is playing at 132bpm and not ahing it depitching to 120..!

I got an elektron digitakt recently, and well, that is quite something. So now I'm gonna sequence all midi on the digitakt ( 8 midi track + 8 sample tracks, ++ better work flow for writting and tweeking stuff at home haha) and using the beatstep pro for live sequencing, because it's definitly his strong side. Big buttons, very clear and straight forward !
