Title: [Solved] Problem with DAW mode in Ableton Live 10
Post by: mcnitt on November 30, 2018, 12:30:23 am
Despite DAW Mapping being set to "Live" for Ableton Live, the MKII sends note data instead of the correct control data for all Transport and DAW Command buttons. Pushing any transport button triggers notes instead of controlling the Ableton Live transport.

As an example, the Play button sends "Note On, Channel 1, A#5, 127" when pressed when it should send "Control, Channel 1, Controller 118, 127"

This is a new KeyLab MKII 61, firmware updated to 1.0.10.23. I tried updating the firmware several times but no luck.

Thoughts on how to fix?

I also tried a factory reset, downgrading to firmware 1.0.9.122 but transport controls still send note data.

Solved, after many hours. The issue was with the version of Ableton Live.

I had been on 10.0.1 which didn't have a correct midi profile for the MKII. It was super confusing because it did have a profile called "KeyLab" to which it defaulted that didn't work, and also had a profile called "KeyLab Essential" which half worked.

Looking at the screenshots here I saw a profile that was missing from my Ableton preferences https://www.arturia.com/faq/keylabmkii/keylab-mkii-tips-tricks

Updating to Ableton Live 10.0.5 a "KeyLab mkii" profile appeared and things now work as expected. RIP.
