Title: Program/bank change with BSP?
Post by: alke on September 18, 2018, 01:37:44 pm
Hi,
I have a BSP which I'm enjoying a lot, but in creating projects and songs, I always have to manually change patches and programs from the synths I have, and if I ever want to go on a hardware-only live gig, I'd rather have the BSP send changes onto the synths so that I don't need to fiddle with the knobs for seconds while changing from one song to another.

Currently the BSP is the main MIDI master and clock, going out to a midi thru box and from there onto different synths (BSP MIDI out -> syn #1 in->thru/out -> syn #2 in->thru/out and so on, no CV). I create projects with different sounds and save them on the BSP, but the patches don't change when I change the project.

Do I need to configure PC codes/numbers in the MCC to match the PC ID's for each respective synth in respective MIDI channels? I couldn't really find anything useful in the MCC manual.

Thank you in advance!

Hi alke,
BeatStep Pro takes Program Changes (Patterns), Bank Changes (Projects) and Song Select (Scenes) into account but, at the moment, it does not send them.
However, you can configure Step buttons, Pads or even Encoders to send whatever Program Change or Bank Change you need (in Control Mode only). You will then need to push the buttons, pads or turn the encoders to send these; it will not be done automatically.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Y.

Thanks Y!
It'd be nice if there were a dedicated section about this in the MCC manual. Let's hope I get it figured out :-)
