Title: keystep playing notes instead of transposing in sequencer mode
Post by: fenin on March 06, 2018, 11:08:14 am
hi all,

just messed around with the keystep yesterday in the studio and
there were a few things/functions that i did nt quite understand.

one important thing  i was wondering, is
when the sequencer is  running
and u already had recorded some steps
(notes ) in via the keyboard,
u cannot playing additional notes over it
without recording them in the same time.

( i was controlling  an analogue synth via gate/cv)

i mean when i want to play along  over the sequence  it only transposes the sequence in a weird way,
when hitting the keys.(when record function is off, only start key)

its hard to go functional on this thing , guessing what you doin, when theres no display:)

dont know if u get my problem, or if i missed something
reading the manual over and over again.

thanx,
lars

Hi Fenin,

Shift + Oct Minus (Transpose) = Enable key transpose mode (by default)
Shift + Oct Plus (Kbd Play) = Enable key playing while sequencer is running

Shift + Key 1..16 = Select MIDI channel for both sequence and keyboard play while seq is running
Shift + Oct Plus (Kbd Play) + Key 1..16 = Select MIDI channel for keyboard play while seq is running

If I remember correctly, the CV pitch out is always mapped to the sequence (to check)

Hope this helps

Damn well its not just me then mine is like the factory 8 modes don't even come up or work at all so the sequencer is pointless for me right now. Hope you got yours fixed, i am hoping i can get mine fixed or maybe return this for a key lab 25 or something i can use.

Hi Savage,

One common mistake with the sequencer not playing is related to the sync setting.

Please check the following page:

Cheers

hi

as far as my problem with overdubbing/playing
of notes while the sequencer is runnning
i understand now you have to use the shift and oct +
button to change between simple transposing the whole sequence or
just playing notes over the recorded one
(which i  wanted to to)

maybe i messed up the factory setting (which is normal kplay mode)
when hitting the wrong combination  of buttons by accident.

the snyc problem with ur daw /vst might be a simple sync/midi setting one.

Hi again

Tried it out today
And this doesn t work.

when i hit the Shift and OCt+
Button(Keyboard Play Mode)
i hear nothing from the synth
when i Play Along over the sequence.
?? :-[
Does this only function with
Midi gear connected(Not via Gate/cv)??

Thanx..

Hi,

Yes, it seems like it's only through MIDI.
