Title: All leds off and synth unresponsive
Post by: kris66 on February 12, 2018, 09:36:09 pm
Hi :)

I got my MatrixBrute today.
I tried to update to latest firmware and the process got stuck 0n 47% and Midi Control center froze.  I restarted the MatrixBrute (as it was unresponsive at that time too) and voila...NO leds and totally unresponsive.

I tried this multiple times with no luck:

"Your synth must be in DFU mode. (Firmware update mode)
To get out of this mode, here is how to do:
Press your Matrixbrute ON button, and immediately toggle ON/OFF 6-8 times the Audio Gate switch.
Then wait few seconds and reboot your Matrixbrute again.
The synth should now restart in it's normal state."

Any ideas how to get it to respond again before I send it back?

Cheers
Kristian

Hey Kristian,

Sorry you are encountering this issue.

Make sure to try with the USB cable connected as well as disconnected, and to try with the MIDI control center open and closed. Trying another cable / USB port may also help !
If you still can not make it to boot again, I would suggest you get in touch with the support team, they may have more detailed explanations about the procedure : https://www.arturia.com/support

Hope it helps !

Hi Vic-tor :)

Thanks for your reply. The issue is not USB.  The MatrixBrute wont power on whatsoever. It's totally dead (even though it does make a "pop-sound" in my studio monitors when i turn it on/off) :(

I have already send in a support ticket. If they can't help I have arranged it to be returned to Thomann.

Cheers
Kristian

That makes me think I remember this happened to me a few months ago while at a music event !

If you can hear the little pop sound then the synth is ok.

I just tried intentionally interrupting the firmware upgrade just to check again. It seemed the solution suggested in the FAQ article did not work first, here is how I got it to work again :

-Turn off MatrixBrute
-Plug MatrixBrute USB on the computer
-Launch MIDI Control Center, select MatrixBrute as the device
-Turn on MatrixBrute while doing fast On/Off with the audio gate switch for a while
-After 5 seconds or so MIDI Control Center asks "Device is in Bootloader mode, please upgrade firmware"
-Select Upgrade (Not Download Latest)
-Locate the firmware file found here : https://www.arturia.com/products/matrixbrute/resources
-Carefully follow screen instructions (the MCC will ask for turning off and On the MatrixBrute at some point)
-The upgrade should perform correctly

Will see with my colleagues about adding this to the FAQ article.

Either way let us know, I am pretty sure this can be sorted without returning it.

Hi again :)

1.000.000 times THANKS :) :) :)

I have tried this many times where it did not work...My mistake was that I turned the MatrixBrute off after "doing fast On/Off with the audio gate switch for a while" and then on.

The firm update went through without any issues....Now it works again and I am a VERY happy man :)
Thanks, thanks, thanks :)
