Title: Grey Matter E! Banks
Post by: aprilexe on January 24, 2018, 12:36:43 am
Sometime back I found the Sysex banks for the Grey Matter E! DX7II modification on one of the DX sites. They loaded into FM8 no problem, Dexed they are mostly scrambled and in DX7V and my hardware DX7(stock) they do not load at all. I tried the iOS app KQ Dixie and they loaded so I was able to re save them from then open import to DX7V and also to Dexed. The KQ Dixie patch save options are 32+1, 32 and 1 so I imagine whatever extra information is in the sysex is cleared by using the 32 option.

I haven't any idea how close these are to an E! equipped DX. I always assumed with FM8 the banks were loading but using the default DX waveforms. There are duplicates among the banks as well.

Grey Matter E! is no waveform expansion, the waveforms are hardcoded within the FM chips. I guess the additional Data contains additional controllability and performance settings.
