Currently, my computer's USB ports stay ON when I shut down. This means that the Keylab Essential is continuously powered. It shouldn't be an issue, technically but, the display window and some of the buttons stay lit.
It would be good if there was an OFF/ON function on a separate piece of software to cause the keyboard to shut down or give the appearance of being shut off. This way, I don't have to continuously pull the USB plug and plug it back in constantly which, will eventually cause problems with the contacts, either on the USB wire itself or worse, the USB connector in the keyboard.

Yeah this would be very cool, or maybe even some kind of key combination on the controller itself to put it to sleep.

Maybe there could be an option in MIDI Control Center, like the one for turning on/off the Vegas Mode, you could turn on/off standby after 30 minutes or something, shouldn't be to hard to implement as they Vegas mode is also toggled when the Keylab isn't used for some time.

I would love this as well!

Hello,
...or an On/Off switch...but that would means a new keyboard.
Imagine though..."not being able to turn something off".

Just got a new Keylab Essential 88. I can't understand that the power does not follow the connection logic, but instead only relies on the presence of the 5V. It's quite a ridiculous behavior in 2020, where we all try to save energy and act sustainable.

I would like to upvote this suggestion as well. As a new owner of a Keylab Essential 88, this is the first thing I notice and really miss having.

Yes, some sort of "black out" alternative to "Vegas mode" would be great!

I agree with everyone about adding something in the MCC to power it off or whatever. I've only had mine for a few days, and am actually shocked that it doesn't have a power switch like other MIDI controllers do.

+1 100% blackout would be great

Alas, it is four years since the original post. I just got my KeyLab Essential and, while the removal of the physical switch may be a way to reduce the cost, mine stays powered constantly and I worry about the life of the display. I also worry about the life of the USB connector if I plug/unplug every day. A soft switch would be greatly appreciated.

I just got the Keylab Essentials 88 today, and I have to say, I find it fascinating that the only way to turn off the keyboard is to unplug from the USB port, unless I also choose to turn off the computer.
That's just ridiculous. Very nice keyboard otherwise.
