Title: Controller software (VIP) does not work with V5
Post by: vastdynamics on November 02, 2017, 12:07:06 pm
Hello,  :)
I just bought an AKAI Pro Advance 49 keyboard controller - especially to integrate with my V Collection 5 (aftertouch for the CS-80 V3 - Arturia support was even listed on the AKAI box). I like the AKAI hardware - but the whole concept relies on that piece of software that is called VIP (now version 3.0 out) that acts as a VST host (can be run as VST even inside a DAW), manages presets (first time I have my thousands of patches in one place - searchable - I like that) and maps plugin controls. For this purpose there are so called plugin maps distributed for the most common plugins around. It is advertised that you can create your own custom map for those VSTs that do not offer such a plugin map.

Now my issue: both options do not work for V Collection 5. All of my other plugins play nicely (besides Spire but this has quality issues anyhow). My V3 VSTs show up in VIP but there is no plugin map avaialble - and even worse: you cannot even manually import the presets from the VSTs. And this is the point that I cannot just accept. I have developed VSTs on my own (which by the way integrate nicely with VIP) and I know that it is not a big deal to implement the VST standard interfaces for plugin preset and bank export. In my coding this is around 100 lines of C++ code. And looking at what you pro guys have done with V Collection I find it hard to believe that this couldnt be fixed on a rainy afternoon or so. Or do you want to maintain an unfair advantage for your KeyLab controllers by implementing proprietarily and not open? This would not be very "customer centric" and it is not the view I have of Arturia as a company.

Could you give an outlook on this one?  :D

Best regards, Tobias
