Title: Open-source firmware for keylab
Post by: maranite88 on September 09, 2017, 12:42:34 pm
Arturia - would you guys please consider opening the firmware source code for the keylab, so that Arturia fans & enthusiasts can maintain and improve it?

As far as I can tell, there's no competitive value in the firmware itself but by allowing the community to improve the capabilities of the keylab series, Arturia could, for free, improve their sales.

Anyone from Arturia gonna take this up and give feedback?

Hello maranite88,

Unfortunately this is not (and will not) be possible.

Regards,

Arturia is so restricted about such things! like key license and bla bla bla...
after all it is a midi keyboard not a bank security system!!! ::)

Well, you can always ask APPLE if they'd like to make their OS open source or Microsoft to make their OS open source or even FORD to make their car's computer's software open source.  If you were living in China, nothing is patentable or copyrightable but, then again, Arturia isn't in China.
