Title: lfo sync and stuck notes
Post by: moonpotato on August 30, 2017, 11:21:30 am
occasionally notes get stuck on and only clicking unison on and off again seems to fix it, the note that gets stuck doesn't seem to be one that was recently triggered, occasionally it's a note that's octaves below the last few triggered notes. and it seems to occur randomly, im using reaper..

this behaviour is intermittent and only occasional usually after editing notes starting/stopping playback several times

also, the sync function on the lfo seems to stay in time, but it starts in a different place each time the track is started playing, I've noticed this behaviour in ableton aswell as reaper- is there a way to reset the lfo when the track starts playing ? rather than simply keeping the lfo running at a rate that's in sync with the host ?

many thanks
andrew

I think Arturia know we are many that would like to have options to retrigger LFO's and reset OSC's and alike, in the applications where this is'nt possible yet.
AFAIK it's unfortunately not possible in Prophet V3 yet.

Arturias application can in my exsperience be sensitive in some cases. At least sometimes. So can other vendors applications.
Stuck notes can be caused by many things i think.
I often have the stuck notes issues when i use my laptop. I sometimes think it's because i touch my touchpad while doing other things. But i'm not sure.
Also there for some reason can be unstable behaviors when working like you describe, doing some things several times, turning things on and off etc...
I rarely have stuck notes working on my main stationairy music PC with any applications from any vendor.
My exsperience is the same with other vendors applications. I have more issues on my laptop.
It's hard to pin the reason to issues like this. Don't you have the stuck note issue in Ableton?

hi, thanks for replying

yeh same problem in ableton and reaper..

and apparently, this has been raised again and again since about 2011
https://forum.arturia.com/index.php?topic=82133.0

at this point.. it's almost unusable
intermittently, it just starts happening and then won't stop..
so, can't even render out a sequence and use a wav loop..

Your welcome.

As said, then i rarely have issues like this on my main desktop music PC that's using SSD and a more powerful CPU than my laptop that use HDD.
And i work in a different way on my desktop.
I wonder about this difference between my laptop and my desktop regarding the issue?
As said i have the same exsperience with applications from other vendors.

Do you use a laptop or a desktop, and how powerful is it?
Do you use a keyboard controller?
Do you have the issue on all presets?
What OS do you use and is it fully updated and maintained so it has no errors?

I'm not sure i understand when you say. "so, can't even render out a sequence and use a wav loop..".
Can you please explain?
Do you get issues every time you play Prophet V or use midi notes to play it? That you should'nt.
Any automation used?

I think and hope many more would report about this, if they have so often and severe issues. But actually i for some reason think i've heard more praising of Prophet V than of other Arturia applications.
As you can understand i'm not saying there can't be issues. But why is there differences in how many issues one can have? I even have differences between two PC's.
Could be great to find the culprit. Any of the many times you say this has been brought up that can indicate the culprit? Can you add links to the threads?
