Title: [SOLVED] How Hot?
Post by: mrbob on June 18, 2017, 09:27:26 pm
Mine arrived today.  A fantastically compact unit I must say.  However, mine is running incredibly hot - unbearably so.  Is this normal, and is there anything I can do to keep it cool?
Thanks
Rob

Hello mrbob,
And welcome on this board
It is normal that the casing feels hot, especially when the unit runs at full power (dc plug +usb).
As there is no vent to avoid dust in the cisrcuits, the unibody metal casing is made to efficiently dissipate the heat.
Subsequently, the exterior casing temperature is approximately the same than the components inside.
This is why it may be surprising.

You can reduce the temperature of the AudioFuse by changing the power mode to green from the AudioFuse Control Center.
In green mode, the input and output signal will go up to +18 dB, instead of +24dB
More info on the this FAQ article in the power mode section: https://www.arturia.com/faq/utilization/audiofuse-general-questions (https://www.arturia.com/faq/utilization/audiofuse-general-questions)
Hope It helps,
Best

Thanks.  I've put it in green mode for now.
It still fires up the Keystep and Beatstep-Pro and I don't seem to need the beatstep's ground splitter anymore either, so that's a nice bonus  :)

I just wanted to add that mine runs hot all day without any problems, I guess as the AF is so hands on you notice it more . but its fine.
