Title: All my presets so far
Post by: robst247 on May 14, 2017, 10:13:04 am
Esteemed fellow MatrixBruters,

Here, in one project, are all the presets I have so far created [latest update 08 July 2017], arranged in (hopefully logical) categories separated by empty gaps.

Hope you like them. Feedback welcome. :)

Warm regards & happy knob-twiddling,
RobSt247

Thanks a lot Rob for sharing your nice presets! I find them very musical and I'm fond of your moog-esque lead and basses. They are much more useable than those factory presets I think. You're surely know how to master this fine machine!

Too bad nobody takes time to reply although there's some downloads already :(

I'd give em a go but have no idea how to send them to the MB apart form one at a time!

Anyone have any hints?

You should use the midi center software. Then import a new project, use the file attached to this thread and then you can transfer the whole content to your matrixbrute by clicking on it (see progress bar below) or you could just select a line of presets to transfer just this by clicking only on the corresponding letter. That might be useful if you want to keep some of your presets without erasing the whole memory.

Thanks for the info, unfortunetaly still a bit lost.

I seem to be able to draw a row of presets or a single preset, how do I drag them all?

The left screen is the project aka presets ensemble ON your computer, the right screen reflects your matrixbrute. The whole thing is about synchronizing left to right or opposite way.
Import new project (file from Rob thanks to him for sharing), then click on send to matrixbrute and wait for the synchronization. Voilą!

To drag them all you have to send the whole project at once to the matrixbrute.
I didn't manage to select only certain presets in a project

Ah thanks, it was the button I was missing, never noticed it! I have been doing it by dragging!

Thanks for the info.

Very creative work, I must say!  Thanks so much for the upload.  Some of the setups had me scratching my head until I did a thorough analysis and this has actually helped me decide that I think I'll keep this machine.

Best,
Eric

Hi Eric,

Glad to hear you've decided to keep your MB and that my presets somehow were instrumental [pun intended] in your decision-making process.
Are you a Yes fan?

To all MatrixBruters:

Here's the latest version of my custom project.
The name is the same; I've just added (08 July 2017) some new presets.

NB: The gaps separate different categories of presets.

Happy knob-twiddling.   ;)

YES, I am a YES fan.  Fan of prog rock in almost all cases - especially newer bands like the Flower Kings, ACT, Kaipa (all Swedes...(!?) as well as Porcupine Tree, etc. etc.

My MB is new, like less than two weeks.  I have owned almost every major synth (i'm 57) through the ages - certainly all the top analog polysynths.  I just spent about two years in eurorack and thought maybe the MB would wean me from the spaghetti.  I've begun to realize it's going to take quite some time to explore this machine, which is good news!

Thanks for uploading your experiments and not trying to sell them.  I'll contribute my efforts once I get over the discovery phase.

One thing that I think is buggy is the Seq Mod.  I still don't have a handle on exactly how it works, especially if you try to edit the Seq steps while the Seq is running.  I still find it quite weird.

...
The functionality of pressing a seq mod step and adjusting the amount while playing got bugged in 1.1.0.73. A work around until we get a fix is to press Record and Play simultaneously. That will make seq mod editing work, but it may get stuck again after a while, in which case you just press Record and Play again.

Thanks!  Yes, I'm on the version you cite.
I kind of miss my Pro2 which I sold because sonically I didn't like the brittle character of the oscillators.  But mod wise it did run circles around the MB.

But it's all about the sound - eh?   :)

I'm not sure that the P2 run circles around the MB when it comes to modulation. For example the MB has 256 modulation paths while the P2 'only' has 41.

The good thing about the MB is you can use a little bit of each source for each destination, this is not really possible on the P2 as you run out of slots having only 16.

The good thing about the P2 is the seq lanes and you get to choose 16 of the sources, also 16 user defined destinations while currently the MB only has 4. We are hoping they will increase this to 16 though.

So swings and roundabouts really :)

That's not the only aspect that's buggy. If the arpeggiator or sequencer is running, pressing the TAP button mutes or deletes steps. In sequencer mode, sometimes it lengthens the sequence! This is clearly a serious bug that needs fixing. TAP tempo never works as it is supposed to. I've posted a bug report in the Technical Issues section. Is Arturia working to fix this and the issue you two mention?

Yes, I've also run into some tap tempo strangeness. The seq mod bug has been duly reported. Also, good thing you made a report in the Tech Issues sub forum, let's pick it up there.

Oh, and sorry for going OT in your thread, robst247 :-[
