Step entry is great...press record, play on the keyboard and each note is automagically entered in the next sequencer location. But, often you're need the option to "try/taste" the next note will it fit in sequence?
Proposal: use the sustain pedal to create this functionality. When in record mode you can depress the sustain pedal to keep the sequences from advancing to next step. This allows you to try a few notes for the next step. Found the right next note? Let go of the sustain pedal and the sequencer advances...your note is recorded...My guess is that this is very easy to implement with one line of code.
