Title: Spark patterns and Ableton
Post by: jamm on November 18, 2015, 07:24:31 pm
Hi Spark users,

Just start using the spark plug-in in Ableton and i have a two questions.....
i drag a midi file from spark pattern and drop it in a ableton midi clip in the session window.
Then in spark i turn off the host and tempo and let the Ableton clip play back the spark midi-notes.
Boom...the hihats playback(timing)is different? I think maybe to do with the choking of the open and closed hihats?
I there any way that ableton plays back the pattern exactly the same as the internal spark patterns?

Also is there a way to let ableton (empty) midi-clips in the session window trigger spark patterns?
For example (empty) midi-clip A in ableton triggers clip-A1 in spark....clipB in ableton triggers clip A2.
This because i want to build up en edit patterns in Spark and only let ableton triggers them.

any suggestions?

Hi Jamm,
As to your second question you can midi learn in spark the patterns by cmd click or control click on the pattern then assign a midi note
Then program these to change in clips in Ableton.

Your issue with dragging midi sequences in to Ableton I'm not sure what this could be. what do you mean play back timing?
remember some automation and swing are not transferred  i do believe .

No swing/shuffle is copied when you drag n drop the midi into Live
you have to record the patterns on a new midi track in Live and route it back to spark

thanks for the answers Terrym and Monsta,

I will try that!

its not the "timing" but more that it sounds if the chocking of the hihats is not working when Ableton plays back the midifiles.
