Title: Complete Noob Questions--Just bought a BeatStep an hour ago

I have hooked it to my Imac and the power is fine through the USB.

1. I used Reaper as my DAW, but at this point I really just want to be able to tap a pad and get a beat and use the Beatstep as a standalone machine to get used to it.

Do I need any kind of Arturia software to get up and going in the easiest mode?
