Title: Horrible digital noise when USB is plugged in.
Post by: caronte23 on June 29, 2015, 04:09:58 pm
Hello there, I've seen around the forums and this seems like an occasional problem for some people, what's going on?

Basically I've been using the micro brute for a couple months without issues.
Today however I wanted to record a sound I had got after doodling a bit and the following happened..
Before the problem occurred I was monitoring the sound through my motu 2408 using MOTU's Cue mix monitoring app. The USB was already plugged in.
I then decided to record so I muted and closed cue mix and opened Logic Pro X
Created a new track, as soon as I turned on monitor I got this horrible ultra loud digital noise.
The only way to turn it off I found was to unplug the USB and turning the sequencer on and off again :/...
The only difference I can think of is that Logic would have been sending midi clock (however it was paused, so I'm not sure)
I'm not using any USB hubs or anything...
Mac Pro 2009 8core

Edit: After trying with a few different DAWs I confirm the problem is only with Logic..

This is a ground issue w/ the usb cable. If u are tech savvy.... pull the outer later off a little and clip the black wire. Noise gone.
