Title: SPARK NOISE ESSENTIALS
Post by: faktoid on May 26, 2015, 08:51:54 pm
I bought it last Friday
Was not able to download it until today... The website was broken ... They sent me an alternate download link...
It seems to fixed on the website by now..
I have registered and installed it.
I do not find a way to activate it... There is no help anywhere available.
The website is too generic and does not give any specific information about the SPARK NOISE ESSENTIALS Kit...
I own two other expansion Kits and I do not remember running into such shitty problems...
I am deeply pissed and regret spending a single cent for the software..

As far as I oversee I may be the only one who has bought that expansion set as noone else requires help...
I am frustrated..

It would be nice to receive a simple two or three step information on how to use the SPARK NOISE ESSENTIALS within Spark...
regards

There is no registration required apart from registering the product which should have been done already by Arturia, done as it appears in you account.

All you need to do is run the installer, this will install the expansion pack, restart Spark and there you have it. Nothing else required. Simple.

(I have installed 2 of these, Hollywood and EDM)

I guess this is how it should work.
Unfortunatly it does not work.
The noise Expansion is available within the spark Software, stand alone and plugin but the sounds are silent.. I see the patterns in the sequencer but dont hear the sound..
When I choose the edm Expansion it works immediatly and I can hear the beats..
Is your answer actually based on the noise Expansion or generic?

Hi , ill get the expansion and take a look at this ,but please check your library and see if the samples are in there ,do they play if  you load a project then change the kit? do the samples play in the instrument panel in spark? make sure you have checked them in the bank section.

As I said, I have installed 2 of these, Hollywood and EDM nothing else. But the procedure should be the same.

You on a Mac?

go to /Library/Arturia/Spark/Spark Library/Factory/

Try and play the sounds outside of Spark, with quicktime for example. Some should be wav files or aiff. Do they play?

the problem was of a different nature.
I have a Roland MX-1 Mixer, that works on different sample rates.
48 kbit was setup, I did not mind, as the other spark sounds worked well.
But the Noise set only playback when I choose the 44,1 khz Setting in the mx-1...

If you have gear working at different sample rates you will have issues with audio, pops and crackles, things being slow or fast depending. All your gear needs to be at 1 sample rate, either all at 44.1k, 88.2k, 192k etc etc

This is not the answer. I just bought this Noise Essentials pack and I am now considering a refund since it is not working properly. I am a composer, so I do everything at the Broadcast Industry Standard rate of 16bit/48kHz, yet Noise Essentials is the ONLY library/sounds that I have that will NOT work when my DAW is set to 48kHz. It only makes a sound at 44.1kHz. This is a HUGE oversight by Arturia and I am hoping for a quick update soon... otherwise, I feel completely ripped off!

EDIT: Listening through the library, it sounds absolutely amazing... so I don't want a refund, we just need a fix/update so we can use this at 48kHz, like with all other software.

I decided not to react to the lecturing of the support concerning the sampling rates...
but
I wrote a support ticket to arturia in parallel to this thread here.

Here is what I received..

"I just tried and it seems it indeed only works on 44.1.
Thank you for your feedback, this is going to be investigated.
Sorry for the inconvenience.."

That was 11 days ago and I haven't received any further information or feedback.
As the sounds are nice I would not expect them to able to use them in any other format but 44.1

Just my 2 cents.
I hope I am wrong.

Oliver

I too just submitted a support request, so we'll see what they say... but it sounds like it wasn't intentional, which is good news. That means maybe they can update the files with a patch and fix this issue. Here's hoping...

*gear, as in hardware. If your software is on a different sample rate to that of your hardware, it will simply not play.

I have found that sample rates of some of the Spark library differs. For example, Spark has issue at 192, the sample side of Spark won't play.

It's odd, I would have expected them to be sampled at the same rates, but they haven't. I've not had issues at 48k but the higher I get, the more issues I have with things playing.

@faktoid. I'm an arturia user, I'm not employed by arturia and I'm certainly not 'support'

Thanks, Stuart

This is not the answer.

Not to your issue perhaps, my post was specifically aimed at the previous question.

I've noticed that Spark only performs at certain sample rates, I emailed a while back to notify the guys at Arturia. I agree, it's an oversight not to support different sample rates, specifically broadcast rates of 48 and pro audio at 192.

Hi,
I got a reply from support concernign that matter:

"This issue is referenced and will be fixed as soon as possible by our Dev team.
Watch out the forthcoming update.
But I can't give you a precise date, I don't know when it is planned yet."

I am patient and will wait for them to solve it.

Awesome! Good news! I knew it had to be an oversight that could be fixed...
