Title: analog lab crashes every time i run it
Post by: adigm on January 09, 2015, 08:24:38 am
hello all,

i just got a keylab 88.  i'm on a macbook pro 15" retina (2012) machine, OSX 10.9.5, 16 gb ram, logic pro x.  I got the keylab / analog lab registered and activated (originally installed 1.2.1.18, updated tonight using the latest software version, 1.2.2.47), trying to follow all installation steps per website.  analog lab has not run for me yet, crashes on open every time.  i removed the application and all it's associated files (from /library), and re-installed, but same thing.

then, i opened logic and logic crashed on trying to load the vst3 plugin.  i removed the vat3 plugin, now logic opens but the analog lab AU crashes.  so basically, i can't use analog lab in either standalone or a host.

i should mention that i was able to install and run the software center app fine, got keylab / analog lab activated.  i also installed midi control center, and it seems to work fine so far.  i was also able to install and control the included pianoteq and UVI instruments.

has anyone had similar experiences where the standalone app never opens before it crashes?

i submitted a support ticket but no response yet.  i guess based on some of the posts here i shouldn't hold my breath.

any help or feedback is greatly appreciated.  thanks!

I have a similar problem with analog lab when I run the standalone it crashes with an error that flashes on the screen and then disappears I did get a picture of it and it talks about a missing file I tried reinstalling from the welcome application from the individual installers downloaded from the update page and from the software center each time deleting all the files and restarting the Mac and doing the reinstalls. in all these cases analog club still crashes with the same error or sometimes with no error the other apps work okay in both standalone and as plug-ins except box which shows up as a white MT window in standalone and simply doesn't open as a plug-in I am using logic Pro X on a MacBook Pro 17 inch late 2011 running the latest Yosemite. i've contacted support they suggested I try doing the reinstall so I took it a bit further and tried reinstalling from all the different sources I could find and still no problem I emailed them but haven't received a response yet it is the weekend.

Thanks for your added comments.  Yeah, I have that same issue with the quick error dialog box that closes by itself very quickly.  I was able to capture a screenshot and sent it to support along with the crash report.  I've received two useless replies about deleting preferences and installing the latest version, but I had already told them I did all that already.  Besides, since the app crashes on open, it does not even get to create the preferences file.  And they just closed the ticket.

I replied back to support a week ago, but have not heard back from them anymore.  As of right now, the app is useless to me, both in standalone and plugin.  I had to delete the plugin files since it crashes Logic for me otherwise.

I wish I was more diligent in researching all the issues this company apparently has with bugs and support.  I would not have bought their product.  As it is, it was pretty much the only 88 key controller that has 9 faders and has good action, so maybe I'm just being sour.  HOWEVER, no company should treat its customers in this way, nor should they release buggy software without addressing the issues somehow.  At least with clear communication.

Right now, I'm pretty ticked off with Arturia.

I'm having a similar issue in Logic 9, had to disable the AU. My crashes always refer to a preset causing the problem.

adigm unfortunately I think you just got unlucky on the timing, bought right around the time an update came out. They do tend to roll out things too early it seems, but I can say that so far Arturia does fix their software. They might be ignoring you, but not the problem. Spark was an unstable mess after one of the updates, now it works perfectly for me. The period in between was still super frustrating, but it did get fixed.

At least the controllers work great with other plugins too...

Yep, same here. crashes with the error. I have been able to capture it and logged the issue with Arturia. they emailed trying to help but nothing they suggested helped and now no response back. good to see that its not just me so it might be something they can fix.

i am on a macbook pro 17" Yosemite 10.10.2 and Logic Pro 10.2. But the plug in doesn't show up in Logic. When I run the stand alone I get the error and it crashes.

Looks like Arturia have released software that obviously doesn't work and there are many people experiencing similar issues with installation, crashing DAWs and missing functionality. I would ask for a refund but it came as part of the V4 Collection. Very disappointing :(

Thanks all for chiming in.  I've finally resolved the issue, although with no help really from support.  They replied a couple of times with basic installation instructions, all of which I had already researched and followed, including using the most recent software updates.  I'm not a newbie at this, been doing music on a mac since '95.  Very frustrating when support does not seem to want to investigate real issues and try to provide meaningful feedback.  I sent them the crash report, and I captured the error message on instantiating the app.  It had to do with what appeared some files the app could not find - these are files from the app package, not any user type files.

Anyway, I've been wanting to rebuild my machine anyway to do a clean re-install of Yosemite.  Once I finished the clean OS install, the Arturia software was the first I installed, and it installed properly and now runs fine so far.  I have a feeling that the app did not want to cooperate with stuff that was previously installed, maybe old pace stuff.  Who knows.

I hope the rest of you can get your situations sorted.  If all else fails and it's worth it to any of you, a clean Yosemite re-install seems to fix the issue.  Since I wanted to do this anyway, I did not bother to troubleshoot further and try to track down what the conflicts were.

I just did a fresh yosemite install, with no real problems in mavericks other than slow load time and crashes in vst3, but now it crashes every time I open it standalone and won't load in bitwig or studio one.  Very, very frustrating...

I'm having the same problem. Every time I try to access the MIDI controls, it crashes.

I'm bummed to see so many other folks having this issue. Sucks.

Hi jimdoran and welcome to Arturia forums.

Have you noticed that the last post before yours in this thread where a few persons have posted is over 3 years old?

This is a thread for the old Analog Lab. Which version do you use? If it's a newer version like Analog Lab 3, then please post in the relevant forum, and be precise about your issue.
