Title: Volume pedal controlled by expression pedal
Post by: martinl on December 16, 2014, 10:30:31 pm
Did anybody else notice that the volume does not change smoothly when controlling the volume pedal via MIDI from an expression pedal?

It seems that the raw MIDI data (which might not be smooth) is passed directly to the volume, without smoothing the signal. This leads to jumps in volume and some pops if the jumps are too high.

Would it be possible to smooth the controller values before applying them to the volume?

P.S. the same is true for the volume pedal in the Wurlitzer. On the other hand, using the same physical pedal for "expression" in the CS-80V seems absolutely smooth and fine.

Best Regards,
Martin

Hi martinl,

Did you try in standalone ?
What is the DAW you are using ?

OK, I just gave it another test:

Standalone (Win 7) behaves fine; everything is smooth.

The "stepped" behaviour is in Reaper (v4.75 / 32 bit).

Cheers,
Martin

What a pity. Just tried the latest update, and it's not yet fixed. Hoping for the next update...
