Title: New Name mini V - cant read Automap presets
Post by: ArtDeco on July 07, 2012, 02:34:17 pm
Hi!

After updating to Next Generation (miniMg V >> mini V) I no longer can open my presets in Cubase 6.5 direct or in Cubase Mediabay (Mac)

I use Automap version 4.3.0 (Novation ZeRO SL) and with that, all my presets are renamed and automatical stored to an archive with the name "miniMg V (Automap)"

Now with the new name I no longer can open / see all my AutoMap presets!!!!
I have tried to move all the .vstpreset files from the old Automap archives to the new "mini V (Automap)", but that doesen't help.

How can I use all my preset??
I have used many hours to systematize my miniMg and Modular Mg sounds, all are now useless or??

- any solution from Arturia or users on this issue??

Thank you - ArtDECO

Have you checked with a text editor if you can find any refence to "miniMg" inside the  .vstpreset file?

I don't have Automap, so I can't check this myself, but if those files are text based, maybe there's a reference inside to the VST (old) name that needs to be changed to the new name? :)

Hi Koshdukai!

Thank you for your kind and Quick reply!

I have open one of the old and a new preset with TextEdit and can here see some strange text in the top and some Meta information in the bottom of both.

I have tried to change the Meta so they are matching, but with out any result.

The text in the top of the new preset is something like this:

If there is an reference who had to be change, how can I do that on all these presets??

Thank you in advance

ok, I can see that those files are definitely not plain text, so it'll be hard to edit them with a normal text editor, like I suggested.

Well, the next thing that I would try, would be to use an HexEditor (to tweak binary files like that one) and look for any MiniMg reference, but this is becoming a bit fiddly and complex solution.

Were those Automap presets done by Novation or yourself?

If done by Novation, maybe the best thing is to ask them how to convert or update them to deal with the new Mini V change.

Sorry for not being more helpful on this :-\

Hi Koshduk

Thank you for your kind reply.

These files are produced when saving my presets in Cubase.
When using AutoMap (For my Novation ZeRO SL) they get there own archives who doesn't work after renaming or in some cases also updating - not only Arturia but also some other products. (Moving them to new locations with old name or renaming doesn't work)

It will be at big job to make new presets so I will send this question to Novation /Focusrite.

THANK you for involving!

I don't use Mac, Cubase or Novation, but I would suggest two possible solutions.

With the Analog Laboratory 1.3.1 and 1.5.1, MiniMg V, Mini V and Mg Modular V as well as Modular V installed you can still use the previous version of the Laboratory and the new version.

By renaming the plugin itself you should be able to use the Automap presets without problems and because the Mini V/Modular V is installed, the Laboratory shouldn't have any problems loading them as external plugin.

I'm really just guessing because, as mentioned before I don't use any of those things... (Mac, Cubase, Novation Automap)!

Hi Manuel

Thank you very much - your suggestion is working perfect.

Renaming the Plug-in, restart the mac, enable the Automap VST, open Cubase, Rescan Cubase Mediabay and there after I can read my old VTS presets - Perfect!

Working with Arturia miniV og ModularV

Could it be the trick also for my NI Kontakt 4 presets for reading in Kontakt 5......?

Thank you again to Manuel!
