Title: minibrute firmware/JTAG
Post by: hansdampf on June 05, 2012, 04:35:23 pm
hi,

on this image, you can see that there is a JTAG connector on the minibrute.
(http://fr.audiofanzine.com/outils/a.provider,m.354014,mod.media,th.thumbs2,s.pictures.jpg) from http://fr.audiofanzine.com/synthe-analogique/arturia/minibrute/editorial/tests/le-petit-prodige.html

Will this connector be present in production units? Will it be possible to update the firmware? Would it be possible to get the minibrute firmware, to allow custom user firmware? As the Arp and LFO are digital, i think it would be a nice feature if the software could be user-modified.

greetings :)

That would be awesome. Then there could definitely be an sh-101 style sequencer added!! Which is the one feature that would make me consider buying a second unit.

I guess firmware upgrade would be handled through USB rather than JTAG.
User defined firmware ? You expect the Minibrute to be open source ?
Would be cool to allow advanced users to hack the digital part with some innovative LFO or arpegio/seq features, but I would be surprised... Wait and see.

You might get an answer on this forum:

where Yusynth, Minibrutes main designer often is present.

MiniBrute firmware (keyboard/MIDI management, Arpeggiator, LFO) can be updated via USB.
No plans for open source at this time, though.
