Title: Synthesis capabilities?
Post by: tjendtyme on February 26, 2014, 03:58:46 am
I am thinking about picking up the Arturia Spark LE but I am a little confused about it synthesis capabilities.  I am currently looking for some hardware / software combo that will allow me to create percussive sounds from scratch, combined with the ability to bash out some beats. So the main question is how deep does the synthesis capabilities of Spark go? Will I be able to create my own signature sounds with this or is it simply manipulation of the supplied preset sounds and layering? Thanks in advance!

Version 2, out in March, offers modular synthesis...I reckon it will be what youre looking for, in the software realm anyway.

NI's maschine also includes a drum synth, and although it sounds great, it wont offer Sparks under the hood flexibility I think.

Signature sounds are good in Spark, I think a further 50 kits are added to version 2 as well. Layering samples is straightforward, each pad can hold six that can be triggered in various ways, velocity, random, stacked etc. I think the way it handles sample playback and a modular drum synth will give it the edge over the competition.
