Title: [Solved] Transports: can't get to sync with Logic X
Post by: jayzeroj0 on February 23, 2014, 12:28:35 am
I've got my KeyLab 49 plugged via MIDI cable to my Scarlett 2i4... and all running into Logic X.
Everything, for the most part, seems to be working as anticipated but I CAN NOT get the transports to sync.

I tried sync'ing with "Listen to MMC Input"... I tried manually mapping transport buttons to Key Commands and NOTHING works... Please help?

The MMC messages are only transmitted when connected by USB. How can I transmit MMC over MIDI cables? Is there a new version of the unified midi control centre that runs on Mac OSX 10.6.8 snow leopard that will allow me to program the correct MMC? I am currently running the old midi control centre. I have run a midi monitor app that confirms no MMC are being transmitted except for the LOOP button which sends a "Reset" message. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Jgreazy,
Sorry there is no new update for the MCC.
You can manually set you transport button to send MMC directly via hardware.

Or try to restore another memory press edit then choose keyboard preset.

Hi,

thanks for the above suggestions, they have gotten my rewind, ff, play and record working, but not stop. When i checked the signals coming out of Midi Control Center I noticed that each of the transport controls that is working has MMC <appropriate transport control here> (see below) while the Stop button just says MMC.

(this was copied straight out of Midi Control Center)
 In:  F0  7F  7F  06  05  F7  |  MMC Rewind
 In:  F0  7F  7F  06  04  F7  |  MMC Fast Forward
 In:  F0  7F  7F  06  66  F7  |  MMC
 In:  F0  7F  7F  06  02  F7  |  MMC Play
 In:  F0  7F  7F  06  06  F7  |  MMC Record Strobe

I tried to assign a midi control to this button but it appears that logic doesn't operate this way for transport controls.

Any ideas?

Hi DaveWT,
Something is wrong with your stop message.
It should be:
In:  F0  7F  7F  06  01  F7  |  MMC STOP

What you can try is:
- Press Stop button
- Press Edit button
- Press CC button
- Num should be 1 if not turn Value/Preset  knob and set on 1. Then validate by pushing the encoder
- Press Edit in order to exit config

=> Now test your Stop button should send the right message.

If it's not working try to make a reset factory by holding octave down and up while booting (this will reset all memories to default.)

Best
