Title: Arturia spark with windows 7
Post by: rohanpp786 on December 31, 2013, 08:36:39 am
Hi,
I have purchased Arturia spark drum machine. It works fine with my mac on logic pro 9. But I want to run it on my windows 7 as well. I installed it on my windows 7. The software works fine but when I try to connect the hardware machine it shows that "connection failed".

Please help.
Thanks,

Rohan

Hi,
are you using Spark inside a DAW?

In windows 7 I want to run Spark in Cubase 5

As I can properly use Fx Pad, Which I am unable to do in logic pro 9.

Hi,
your problem is that the DAW (Cubase/Logic) is opening the communication port that Spark is using to discuss with the controller.
The symptom is not the same on Windows and Mac but the problem is the same.

Look at this screencast (http://www.arturia.com/evolution/kb/?View=entry&EntryID=172) for Cubase and this one (http://www.arturia.com/evolution/kb/?View=entry&EntryID=133) for Logic.

What is the problem in standalone, not connecting?
On Windows or Mac?
Do you have a DAW running when you start the standalone?

I am asking this because if Spark software is well connected to an audio card (i.e does not make sound), it wont be able to connect to the controller.
Same thing if there is a DAW running when you launch the standalone, because it might have opened the communication port used by the software to discuss with the controller.

Kevin
I use digidesign mbox 2mini as my soundcard.
Which is well connected with my system.

Hi rohanpp786,

Open Spark standalone.
Check that your audio device is well recognized in the Audio & Midi Settings window of Spark.
Output should be listed on your main output channel. Test if you have sound here with the test button.

Plug you Spark controller to a usb port on the back of your computer.

Spark standalone should be started without connecting the hardware right?

No problem. You can run the standalone with or without spark connected.
You can manually connect your spark by pressing the connection button (http://img11.hostingpics.net/thumbs/mini_785819connection.png) (http://www.hostingpics.net/viewer.php?id=785819connection.png)

yes i did that aswell...
But I am yet unable to connect my hardware in win 7.

Also I checked the drivers section ... It says no drivers detected for spark... Tried trouble shooting but even windows couldn't find driver for spark hardware.

Go to your device manager :
1/control panel
2/system
3/device manager
4/under "Sound, video and game controllers" section you should have
-spark controller

If spark controller is present but with an exclamation mark you should :
- right click on it and uninstall it
- unplug your spark
- plug your spark and wait until the driver is installed
