Title: LFO speed in seq and free mode
Post by: isakeit on December 22, 2013, 11:40:27 pm
Hi,

i was wondering if it is possible to have the same range for the LFO in seq mode as in free mode.
meaning to have more steps in seq mode to reach into the audible part of the LFO.
speaking of audible part of an LFO - i also have the korg monotribe and its LFO goes way beyond
the LFO of the microbrute. is that a hardware limit or could it be changed via software update?
if so i am kindly requesting for this modification for the next update.

thanks

thanks for the request but it's a hardware limitation...

so the speed of the LFO is limited by the hardware, allright (but sad ;-).

i noticed a bigger "gap" between the setting "every beat" and "double" than in the lower settings.
would it be possible to have additional "8 x every beat" and "16 x every beat" for the LFO rate in sync mode
above the regular settings (every 4th, every 2nd, every beat, double and quadruple)?
would come in handy for bpms around 40 or 60. and the LFO could just stop at "quadruple"
when the bpm (sequencer rate) gets too high due to hardware limits.
or is it kind of restricted to the underlaying real speed of the LFO? (some kind of logaryhthmic behaviour?)

maybe it is musically more interesting to add a "triplets"-step in between the regular 4/4 steps
yes, that is my new request - triplets
:-)

It would be nice indeed, butwe decided to use no more than 5 values for the LFO knob in sync mode, too much values would make it difficult to find the one you like immediately in live situation.
Having triplets you would be great you're right, but then it's the same problem

i understand that you have to set some boundaries for the knobs and the settings.

i myself find it even more difficult to turn the knob fast enough to reach from the breakpoint
of "every beat to double" over to "double to quadruple" in the given time to stay in beat.

most of the other knobs in comparison (i.e. the rate knob itself in free mode) are very sensitive
which makes you fiddle in very small ranges and angles to get the right tune.

i hope you give it a second thought on implementing triplets and spreading the "breakpoints"
more evenly across the range of the knob for an upcoming firmware update.

thanks for the excellent support
regards

Yes yes yesss, please, add triplets!
I understand the issue about knob and range of values, but especially considering the live situation, triplets are such a huge missing...
At least you should make them available from Control Change, as other basic settings are.

it could be a smart way to have it available indeed.
I'll add it to the user requested features list. thanks
