Title: Minibrute soft sounds???
Post by: Man-Machine on March 05, 2013, 09:42:07 pm
Hi everybody,

I'm looking for a modern analogue synthesizer that can do soft sounds well. I know all synths can do soft sounds to a certain degree but I'm talking in comparison to old Yamaha and Roland synthesizers that are known to easily dial these sounds. Most of the new synths demos tend to emphasize the harsher side synthesis (overdriven filters, feedback loops, etc). Can the MiniBrute easily do soft sounds as well?

Anyone?

yes it can. if you keep the oscillator levels low there is no harsh distortion going on and you can dial in some "soft" beautiful sounds. but since the brute is monophon you can't play e.g. dreamy pad chords with it which you can with e.g. a roland juno. but most of the sounds i make on the brute are actually "soft" and not overdriven.

Do you have a link so I can hear these kinds of sounds?

Thank you

Saw LFO, positive on amp, negative on filter, and synced to the arpeggiator. Adds a chill kick drum sound to hold sequences :)

Great stuff, Paf! Very inspiring.  Thank you for sharing!

Out of curiosity, what DAW is that displayed in the "Taming the Beast" video?

Beautiful. Do you have a photo or patch sheet you can share, for the bass/lead voice in the first video?
