Title: Passing MIDI notes THROUGH Keystep 37 MIDI OUTPUT ?
Post by: debriff on September 11, 2022, 08:28:55 pm
I want to send musical notes written in my computer's DAW to a MIDI to CV/Gates converter, placing the Keystep 37 in between (used as a USB to MIDI converter only).

I don't know if the Keystep will make the notes (coming from my DAW) just pass through it, using the MIDI OUTPUT. Nothing will be written in the Keystep, and the internal sequencer will not be used.

Actually, I don't know if the MIDI OUTPUT of a keyboard can send notes that are not created in the keyboard, but just transfer them without playing them. Or is it only a MIDI THRU plug that can do this ???

Here is a visual diagram of what I mean :

My understanding is only MIDI THRU will pass through midi from IN to OUT. You can set the keystep to use midi thru in the control center.

I used this just a few days ago. I had my ipad sending midi thru the keystep to the synths.
