Title: Reference grade?

Anyone know why Arturia and their publicity are referring to “reference” grade sounds - are they implying they’re not good enough for composing etc?

Think you're misinterpretting the meaning. When a manufacturer says something is reference-grade, they mean they believe it's the best in the world against which all others can be compared. Like a reference-grade turntable, or reference-grade speakers.
