Title: Are jumpy rotary controllers just old and dirty?

Dear forum folks,

I have a second hand MiniLab mk1 which provides pretty jerky input into Analog Lab IV. Is this simply down to the pots being old and dirty or is there a software fix? Thanks, D

There appears to be a run on jumpy knobs lately!

I think those are endless rotary encoders - not resistive elements (or pots) per se, but encoder rings that translate rotary movement to a digital signal. Still use wipers and contacts though and they can absolutely become dirty.
