Title: Can't get minilab mkII to work in Cakewalk
Post by: ionia on September 06, 2021, 11:10:51 pm
Greetings. I'm a guitarist of about 40 years, but I have been using Cakewalk DAW and Arturia minilab mkII for about 3 days. Is there a good tutorial that explains how to me on how to get, say, the SYNTH/Fascination preset to load and play?? I have tried the Cakewalk forums, YouTube, Google search, the Analog Lab Lite tutorial but I still can't figure it out. Any help appreciated. I can't get the physical hardware minilab keyboard to interface with analog lab lite like it shows in this YouTube video: https://youtu.be/bFoe9rDJnZ0

TIA.

edit:
guess i should explain my set up.

Running Arturia minilab mkII via the usb that came with it to my pc.
running latest cakewalk daw.
my minilab does play what i assume is the default sound which is a piano. the buttons all light up, i can shift from pad 1-8/9-16, oct - and oct +, all of the keys and knobs work fine....i just have no idea how to program it to a plug in and then into cakewalk daw.

can someone advise which manual to dl for the minilab mkII?? is it the analog manual or analog lab 5 or both or neither??

tia

The user manual is there : http://downloads.arturia.com/products/minilab-mkII/manual/MiniLabmkII_Manual_1_0_7_EN.pdf

To use it in your DAW, make sure Analog Lab is closed before launching your DAW so the USB-MIDI port is released.
Then, in your DAW, select the Minilab’s USB-MIDI ports as MIDI input and output and use the usual workflow to route them to your plugins.
Analog Lab itself can be run as a plugin and you should appear as such.

Hope this helps.

Thank You Very Much. I am new to midi controllers and electronic instruments in general. Appreciate the help.

Although several months later, I'm in a similar boat. The keyboard itself works, and the drum pads trigger, but I'm trying to get the drum pads to trigger different keys and it's not working. I'm using Midi Control Center to create a new template, and I know I've got the template loaded because I assigned different colours to the pads, but the changes don't register when I'm in Cakewalk. I also can't seem to get the knobs to register in the ACT Midi Learn environment. But mostly it's the pads that are the bother -- if I can't get them assigned to specific keys then I'll have to return the keyboard and try something different.

That's exactly what I've been through. It takes a while to get used to it
