Title: Firmware Update
Post by: msmckee47 on September 06, 2021, 02:38:57 am

Trying to get the firmware updated through Midi Control Center has been very frustrating.  MCC can see it's a KeyLab Essential but doesn't otherwise recognize the device.   Reports firmware revision as "Unknown" and does not not report latest available despite being connected to the internet.  Downloaded the latest through Arturia's getting started guide.  Have the USB plugged directly into computer (tried four different cables) and have gotten every possible error message in the manual.  Tried shutting off everything I can think of with no results.  I am at my wits end.  If I hadn't already purchased another $1500 in hardware to make it go I would send it back tomorrow.  Help.

Welcome. Does it work properly as a controller with your DAW, or do you have issues with that also?

Thanks for your reply.  Right now I can't get past updating the firmware.  Nothing works, i.e. Analog Lab 4/IV or the UVI piano.  Haven't got as far as trying to use the DAW.  It's Ableton Live 11 Lite that came with the KeyLab.  I don't know much of anything about this.  It's for my daughter.  If we can get it making noise, she can figure the rest of it out.  She has had her nose in it trying to make it work.

UPDATE: the upgrade worked after manually putting the controller into bootloader mode, by powering it off then depressing the stop-play-record buttons in the DAW section and powering on again. MIDI Control Center displays a "device in bootloader mode" dialog and allows manual selection of a previously downloaded firmware file, ending in .led

I can't update the firmware either. It's stuck at 1.1.6 and I too have tried directly connecting to a USB port not a hub, also using the vendor supplied cable.
