Title: MIDI Firmware Upgrade Issues with MacBook Air M1
Post by: Dr⍉neD@ddy on August 30, 2021, 03:14:15 am
System says I need to upgrade, tells me has to be plugged in directly into computer. Does not want me to use HUB.

But ...

With the new MacBook, you have to use a hub to connect anything with the lightning bolt connectors.

What do I do? Please help. I am relatively new, and now I want to cry.

I'm just going to walk away ... for now.

Thanks in advance!

Hi DroneDaddy. I use an iMac with three powered hubs attached to it and have never had any problems connecting to and updating any of my synths’ firmware. I think the key word here is powered. Give it a try.

Thanks Keith. I have a 10 ft. USB-C to USB-B / Printer Cable on the way ... should get it today! So I am hopeful that will fix my problem.

Funny thing though, I just turned on my system this morning and everything went well. Connections with the mothership and everything. Then I let the keyboard and computer fall asleep while I worked on my actual job, and came back to it ... and it was GONE again. Like it's finicky or something.

But if this new wire doesn't do the trick, then I will look for a powered hub. I wonder, does the USB-B supply power from the MatrixBrute to the macbook?
