Title: Calibration Failed, Timeout Error
Post by: Cord on May 30, 2021, 10:43:38 pm
Ok, I just bought a PolyBrute, got it 5 days ago and now it doesn't calibrate anymore. Noticed first this morning that one voice was a little quieter than the others. I hit calibration all and got a time out error. Before that, I only calibrated the instrument twice since I was busy during the week and didn't have much time to play. But now is weekend, and I actually do have time.

Anyway, after the first time out I switched the PB off and on and tried again. Calbiration failed again, doesn't got further than VCO1 with the bar going forward a little step and then switching back to zero after a while until the timeout error. Things I have tried so far is: Factory Restore, Calibration Restore both without success. Tried to calibrate the filters only, at startup cold and from the menu with the same timeout error. When I listen to the synth, everything seems to be working right, a little wonky in the calibration of pitch and filter, but nothing earthshaking.

Running 1.0.5.234

Just checking here if I missed anything to try. Otherwise it will go back to the dealer.

Thanks!

Still trying here, focusing on VCO tuning only. But I assume this one is toast since it cannot get a single calibration done. Now it freezes during calibration as well.

After back to back calibrations for the last 1.5 days the PolyBrute is calibrating again! Wow! But I am not surprised since this is actual what I read on other forums, just keep calibrating and calibrating and.... But I also read that this is temporary fix and it will come back. I was really hoping to use the synth in a different way this weekend though.

I wonder - did the calibration issue come back?

I've had the same weekend as you now, though I got the PB six months ago with no issues before this weekend. After having timeouts and freezes when starting the calibration process, I started the calibration fra PB connect, and it actually was successful. I have no idea if this was a coincidence or if the success is related to starting calibration from connect, but at least it is back in tune for now.

Hi, do you have the problem yet?

I have problem with calibration for all. Polybrute after several minutes gives me messagge: Calibration is failed for timeout…

I tried calibrating from PB connect and from PB the machine too…

I think I need to push this up to the top again.
Just recently my PB starts complaining about the requirement to calibrate the VCFs (Steiner/Ladder).
Tried the following situations with always the same negative comment "Calibration Failed - Timeout error" after 20% according to Connect:
- all done with a warm PB after running 4 hours
- all done second time after 24h power cut-off of the PB and warmed up
-- Standard calibration routine for Voice Auto-Tuning - "VCF Calibration"
-- in Debug mode "VCF Calib_Reset"

--- Reset of all settings - off course!
--- 2.0.0.747 Firmware

Calibration of VCO/VCA work flawless....

I am in contact with the Arturia support team, but all they sent was what I found here as tips in this forum.

Was anybody lucky to get the PB doing the calibration after it came up with the error?

I got a replacement unit after this issue escalated to a non calibrating unit. After it happend the first time, it happend fiveish times over the next sevenish months. The last time, it was impossible to get it calibrated. Before this, I calibrated for a couple of days each time it went out of calibration. Annoying as f*** and it broke my workflow.

It took four tickets at arturia before they proposed to have it in for service. The importers service technician wasn't able to fix it, and the whole replacement process took tenish weeks, so if you live in a country with a one year purchase guarantee...you might wanna stress customers service.

Thank you Kioshima.

"...the whole replacement process took tenish weeks..." I was affraid to hear this.
As I am living just a few km away from one of the biggest sellers in the EU, and I know (..or being quite sure) they will not be able to repair it - this will be the way I have to go  :'(

Warranty is 2 years here - my unit is now about 7 month old.... oh my...

I bought my Polybrute through SCAN.co.uk and had the same issues with calibration (plus regular drift on one voice). In the end, it turned out to be a unit fault so I had it replaced. Arturia basically said either they could look into it, or I could return it to the vendor under warranty - SCAN had a replacement issued within about 5 days of receiving it. All in all, took about 2 weeks from me initiating the conversation to receiving the replacement.

Haven't had any issues since - calibration works perfectly and it never drifts out of sync.

Thank you all for the information.
I turned in the PB for warranty this morning.
Clear wording by the service team - we will send it to ARTURIA.
I hope I get my PB back - repaired. I checked the one on display at the whole seller. It looks less need....the wooden parts look rougher than on my PB. The ribbon strip is really bumpy.
Maybe it is a 2nd choice machine they get for free ;-)

I already miss this wonderful machine.
As I was there I tried the new Sequential Trigon-6 - interessting, but compared to the PB a rather dedicated synth - the options for reaching a "PolyMoog" sound is part of the DNA of this synth - PB can do so too - and far more.

EDIT: "(plus regular drift on one voice)" - yes voice 5 is not 100% in line with the other 5 voices, but it comes only up in extreme Resonance/Brute settings. But as the Steiner calibration is not working as it should, maybe this is the cause of the issue.
