Title: Build quality
Post by: mjs on May 13, 2021, 04:12:26 pm
Hi,
This might just be my OCD, and feel free to tell me to get over it, but does anyone else have a keybed where the keys aren't equally spaced? Mine vary from 0.5mm to 2mm and it looks really poor build quality. My Akai keyboard spacing is perfect. If everyone else has the same issue then I'll reset my quality expectations and move on, but if everyone else doesn't have this problem then I'll get mine swapped.

Hey, I originally had an Essential where a couple of keys were 2mm higher than the rest, & a couple 2mm lower!

Arturia Support said it was within limits but suggested I contact the retailer if not happy. So I did!

Swapped it for a 49 Mk2 - no key issues at all, all evenly spaced.

From Arturia’s reply to me, it suggests that a certain amount of variance is indeed ‘normal’ in their eyes. I wouldn’t be happy though - if you’re not & it’s within the returns window then return it.

Unfortunately the internet is full of reports of poor build quality from all brands (‘budget’ & ‘premium’ alike). I’ve had issues with Nektar & M-Audio too.
