Title: Velocity Sensitivity How?
Post by: mjharding on April 30, 2021, 09:22:06 am
Hello all,

How do I increase the velocity sensitivity on the Jup8-V4?

In case it makes a difference, wrote the part on another instrument and the MIDI notes are already in the grid. Switched it over to the Jup and no velocities.

Ableton 11.

Took a screenshot as follows

Hi,

Velocity can be assigned to have an effect on many parameters. If velocity have no effect when velocity is sent to and recieved by Jup-8, then it's because velocity is'nt assigned to modulate anything in that preset. The image you show, tell that the sound have none velocity assigments.
In Jup-8 you can send velocity to 3 different parameters of your choice. (Click the Dest textfields and select a destination.). You can also set an modulation amount for each destination (Turn the amount knob beside the Dest textfield.), and you can set a modulation curve (Click and drag the dots in the Curve Windows above the Dest textfields.).
All this is set in the Advanced/ Keyboard page you show with your image. It's in the Velocity section.
Keep in mind, that it's not a global setting, but is done for each preset. It's a part if the sound design.

FYI: The original hardware Jupiter did'nt react on velocity, just like most old synths and keyboards did'nt.
