Title: How to connect to eurorack?
Post by: xkx on March 29, 2021, 09:27:14 pm
Hello

A couple of questions.

I have a keystep pro and would like to connect to different hardware/software, much like loopop in this video at around 3.20.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9B-sqKcemw&ab_channel=loopop

I've connected my keystep via a USB MIDI interface (FH2 - expert sleepers), which is picking up all the four keystep tracks. When I patch pitch/gate/velocity  of a particular track into a modular oscillator I don't get that signal.

Am I doing something wrong?  :'(

Thanks

I had a similar issue at the beginning, I did play around with the settings (midi channels I believe)  and I messed something up. Resetting to factory solved it for me. YMMV. I remember there being something not very intuitive about KSP and a setting I thought did one thing actually did another.

If I understand what you're doing, the FH-2 is redundant in this case - you're going from MIDI back to CV when you could just be taking the CV right out of the KSP into the modular.  Your setup SHOULD work, I guess, but it adds another step to go wrong.  Have you tried plugging Pitch/Gate from, say, Track 1 directly into euro? What euro gear do you have?  Unless you have a full synth voice all-in-one, you need more than just a VCO. I mean the VCO alone WILL make noise, but you'll probably at the very least also want a VCA, and more preferably an envelope generator. And a VCF. I don't mean to talk down to you if you know all this already - just coming in rather blind.
