Title: Possible to download and install previous versions?
Post by: mharry on February 18, 2021, 03:46:21 am
I will soon be upgrading my CPU and motherboard and reinstalling windows, but I don't like the fact that re-downloading my V collection will force me to get the new December update versions. I really hate the new interface, so back in December I stopped updating the different synths after I saw the 'damage' it was doing.

Does anyone know of a way that I could download and install previous versions instead of the most recent?

Without that option, I may try a weird approach of installing the new versions, to get all the proper registry and system files installed, but then overwriting the program files with the old versions that I'm backing up. This may well cause a bunch of trouble, but I dislike the new interface enough to try it.

Anyone ever try something like this, or know of a way to install specific legacy versions?

I'm gonna ask a completely dumb question here as a Mac user who hasn't used Windows for over 10 years except at work.
But does Windows (or a cheap 3rd party app) still not have the equivalent of MacOS Time Machine, which will do a complete backup of your system, OS/Documents/apps included? That's how I've done it when I've done things like change from HDD to SSD. Sure you have to put aside a complete day to do a backup, swapout and restore, but it's all done in one job.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

It can't be done through ASC.
But click the green SHOW ARCHIVES buttons on the download pages, then you can get earlier versions: https://www.arturia.com/support/downloads&manuals

Thanks for the ARCHIVES tip. That's exactly what I'm looking for. Kudos to Arturia for keeping those available.

As for backing or cloning my whole hard drive, that's totally possible. In fact, I would probably be able to get away with simply plugging my existing drive into the new motherboard because windows is supposed to adjust to the new hardware. But I want to perform a fresh OS install to make sure there aren't any driver conflicts, and it'll do me good to refresh the whole system.

Thanks guys!
