Title: Using external keyboard on Keylab 49/61 MKII
Post by: Peopoe on August 22, 2020, 09:40:41 pm
Hi all,
I wonder if by connecting a weighted 88 keys keyboard to the MIDI IN port will allow me to use all features on the Keylab, including the split function on the external keyboard, and if there will be any noticebale latency added.
Are there any contraindications?

For those who would reply "just use the Keylab 88 MKII", I reply that I don't like the FATAR feel of that keyboard so I would like to keep using the keyboard I'm used to. Of course I'm open to suggestions.
Thank you in advance.

According to the manual, "KeyLab mkII's MIDI Out connector will send USB / MIDI data
to external devices, and can do so without a computer when powered with the
optional power supply. The MIDI In connector receives MIDI data from external
devices, and also serves as a MIDI / USB converter for your DAW."
That last sentence implies to me that if you connect your keyboard to the MIDI In, it will be transmitted as you expect to the DAW via the USB connection.
If you're still curious about this in a week, I'll try it for you.

Hi,
thanks a lot. That was helpful!
Should you try it please let me know but it seems that it should be like that. It would be useful to know if splitting the keyboard would work too.
Thanks again
