Title: Modular vs mini (v) part 2

I am very new to the music world, but I hear so much about the miniMg.
mY question is if I were to only get one or the other (mini or modular) which one?
I would guess that the modular would be able to producte dramticaly richer sounds than the mini?

If the Modular was  so powerful, why was the miniMg so much more popular?

Or are the the sounds that both are capable of producing identical?

Is the modular is simply more tweakable older brother to  the mini?

Is it possible to have the same bass patch on a mini that I have on the Modular?

Anyways hopes this makes sense

hi,

modular and miniMg have 2 different colors, the sound is not the same.
Sounds you could do with modular are much more numerous than with the miniMg, but with modular you won't get the sound of the mini.
MiniMg was more popular of course because of it's price, and
ease of use. But mostly people are fond of its unique sounds.
Me I had to choose between modular,miniMgv,cs80v and arp2600,
so my choice was "the 4".
Vintage synthesizers real or virtual have really their own character,
one can't replace another, so then it's matter of what sounds you prefer.

I don't have the moduar Mg, but have similar softsynths (I do have the mini and love it!)  I would also say that the mini is easier to learn to tweak and create your own sounds than a modular synth.  However, as poropat stated, it is a question of taste, your ears, what you want to do etc.

Mini and modular is two complete different instruments. They dont sound the same and the posibilitys for sound creation is much bigger with Modular. So if sound-tweaking is your thing, buy Modular. If you find sound-tweaking boring, choose after the best sound.
