A question about the CS-80V presets
« on: March 31, 2005, 09:51:01 am »
Hi all,

I have a (maybe stupid) question about the original CS-80 presets, which are also in the CS-80V.
I just can't figure out how to use them. The problem is they sound different each time I press them.
When I choose a sound from the drop down list (so not the CS-80 factory sounds, but the ones made by arturia) the original presets are influenced by them. I'll try to explain
First I choose a sound from the dropdown list.
After that I press a CS-80 preset (the ones under the colored buttons).
Suppose I choose guitar here. It has a certain sound.
After that I choose another sound from the dropdown list.
I press guitar again. It now sounds different than the first time.
Why are the factry presets influenced by the sounds drom the drop down?
How can I fix this and hear the "real" sounds under the preset buttons.

I'm trying to make the "to the unknown man" lead from Vangelis. Someone told me I must use the guitar preset, but it just won't work.
It would be nice if someone could mail me this sound.

Please help,

Greetings,

Rene

On the original CS80 when factory presets are used, the sound
could be influenced by the position of performance settings
as mix between 1&2, detune, brillance, reso etc...
So when you select a sound from Arturia presets, it updates
these settings as well...
I think it's the reason.

Well

on CS-80 you couldn't tweak presets except than through P C ( there poropat you're right ) ,on the V version is the same, so b careful how did you set the PControls , take also a look to the "level" sliders on the synth panel.

BTW : the Unknown Man lead was really GUITAR1 + BASS but, as I told somewhere here , these were the basic sounds...Vangelis tweaked them about Brilliance, Resonance, Mixing, Initial and After Response and ,once finished, worked on them again with fx.....simple!!!!!
PS: On CS-80V 1.2 the (panel) presets were better tweaked and now they're almost identical!

You can have a listen there
