MatrixBrute: is there going to be a discounted pre-order option?
« on: February 01, 2016, 09:40:11 pm »
Just wondering if this is a possibility..?

This synth has the potential to be the greatest ever...well, until Arturia bring out the 8 /12/16-voice polyphonic version, anyway...? ;-)

If it goes out at £1750 or less, it'll be a winner....

Shame I wont have one before my album is released in April..... :-(

(any "beta units" available: I'd be glad to test-drive one..!?)

I would be so interested in this if it was polyphonic. Why waste such a beautiful synth on monophonic or duophonic only? Its like an amazing sportscar that looks crazy fast and you open the hood and theres a lawnmower engine. Why oh why not a poly beast!?!

If it was a poly the voices would be far less powerful, the IO would be lacking, the chassis would be rudimentary and the price would be much higher.

Ref. DSI as an example:

Pro 2 @ $2200 => 4 oscs, 4 lfos, 5 egs, 2 filters etc.
OB-6 @ $3300 => 2 oscs, 1 lfo(!), 2 egs, 1 filter etc.

May I also offer a better car analogy:

A poly is like a people carrier - lots of seats, dull and underpowered.
A mono is like a sports car - few seats, exciting and powerful.

:)

Edit: hah, the dangers of generalizing - the PB is not dull and underpowered, although a bit less dangerous than the MxB  :D

Reading and knowing about arturia's infamous way of releasing products (often in alpha state) + their horrible support, only thing i can say is that you need to be fool to preorder a new-born product. You'll find yourself with 2000$ of headaches and a big piece of wood in your setup. Wait 2 years and check again.
Poly vs mono: yeah, monosynths sound big. But also a good poly in detuned unison mode can go really nasty.

Its duo voiced and if the sequences somehow supports driving two voices separately, there are so many options already. Maybe less is more in this case.
